Photonics Design Contest 26/27 started

On October 1, 2026, the first Photonics Design Contest kicked off at the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZfM) at Chemnitz University of Technology.

A total of 10 talented young students will work together to design new photonic integrated circuits (PICs) while also working on their research projects or master’s theses. We are particularly pleased to receive applications from external students at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the University of Münster, and the International School of Photonics (India).

The most promising PIC designs will be fabricated in the ZfM cleanroom and assembled into systems.
