Towards ecofriendly manufacturing and neuroinspired interfaces for semiconductors
02.Oct.2024 Reseach News

A new research
collaboration has been initiated between the Leibniz Institute of Surface
Engineering (IOM), the University of Technology Chemnitz (TUC), the Leipzig
University and the TH Wildau for investigating a new type of resource- and
energy-efficient semiconductors as the core component of every computer chip.
The partnership has already resulted in the publication of a joint research
article in the renowned journal Pure and Applied Chemistry.
Currently, the partners
working on a joint DFG project proposal aimed at further exploring fundamental
properties of polyoxometalates (POMs) in combination with various functional
2D, 1D, and 0D structures. The ZfM of the University of Technology Chemnitz is
involved in this collaboration with the research fields ‘Molecular Systems’,
‘1D/2D Nanodevices’, ‘Photonics and MOEMS’ and ‘Simulation of
Nanotechnologies’.
This multidisciplinary
approach promises to advance the understanding of these innovative materials
and their potential applications.
