On September 22/23 2024, when the consortium met in Chemnitz, a novel motor axis demonstrator for Infineon´s industrial drive technology was presented. The demonstrator with the integrated Chemnitz MEMS components was developed jointly with Infineon, Fraunhofer ENAS and Steinbeis-Forschungszentrum Systementwurf und Test. With these integrated MEMS chiplets, it can be successfully protected against unauthorized exchange or manipulation of original parts by checking their integrity based on unique MEMS parameter combinations (physical unclonable functions) with a 64 bit key. Laboratory tests have proven the robustness of the MEMS chiplets against temperature changes in the range -40 °C to +85 °C and against vibrations (+/- 2 g, up to 5 kHz).
